Timmy Bustard: A basic description of frames will help before describing the your car in a car wash frame. These links describe frame of reference and inertial frame of reference. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inertial_framehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frame_of_referenceBasically, a frame of reference is an xyz coordinate system to describe observations.
A change in the choice of this coordinate system does not change an observer's state of motion, and so does not entail a change in the observer's observational frame of reference. This viewpoint can be found elsewhere as well. Which is not to dispute that some coordinate systems may be a better choice for some observations than are others.
An inertial frame is a frame with uniform motion in a direction. Thus, an IRF is simply a frame that is uniformly moving in a straight line. A frameâs internal xyz coordinates are bounded but the external xyz coordinates are endless. A person in a car in a carwash h! as the car boundary as their internal frame of reference. However; they observer things inside the car and outside the car. Similar to a person on earth who has the earth as the frame of reference while they also observe the stellar bodies. Motion inside the car or on the earth is relative to the inside of the car or the earth surface. Flip a coin inside the car or on the surface of the earth. The coin will move up and down relative to the car or the surface of the earth. Einstein relativity has the car and earth as stationary. Classical hierarchy Relativity has the car and earth as moving. www.complexrelativity.com. Remember all IRFâs are moving frames. Soap and water from the carwash are like meteorites striking the earth atmosphere....Show more
