Kara Tabian: No. There's a reason a psychologist can lose their license if they try to treat family. The boyfriend could never be unbiased, and would likely end up doing more harm than good,
Ardath Templer: No, not a good idea. I have a degree in psychology and I realize that my degree is not enough to counsel people. The girl should get professional help by someone who is trained and actually completed the training.
Heidi Creselious: I guess it's good in that the boyfriend should be more understanding and supportive, but like the other 2 people have said, just doing 3 years of psychology at college does not qualify anyone to treat mental health issues or counsel people, which he might try to do.
Sibyl Siwik: It isn't good, but that doesn't mean it is bad.Being a psychology student will, and should not, make a difference to how he treats his girlfriend. Mental Health Issues is a wide category, some serious, some not so serious. Is there a specific one you! were talking about? In my eyes, being a psychology student will simply allow him to have a better understanding of her illness, the symptoms, the treatment etc. It won't help her get better, but at the end of the day, it makes no difference if the guy is a mechanic, a lawyer, a psychologist or a supermarket clerk.Studying psychology also doesn't necessarily mean he will be a psychologist (there are plenty of routes to go down). Also all psychologists are biased in some way....Show more
Keven Woodington: Originally there used to be just one definition of schizophrenia, now there are six, that is due to the bureaucratic need to confuse the sufferer in support of the physician. Have you regarded being an actress or a pop celebrity.
