August Hubbard: Yeah, "Guts" is right. There are other versions of the game called "Bloody Guts" and "Legs" (or Guts with Legs)In "Bloody Guts", there's an extra hand that is dealt. That is the "Bloody" hand. If you stay in by yourself, then you have to beat the "Bloody" hand in order to collect the pot.In "Legs", it's the same principle, but in order to win the pot, you have to be the only person to stay in 3 times (or more). Each time you stay in solo, you get a "leg". When someone gets 3 legs, he wins the pot and the game is over. We used to play "3 legs + win by 2" so if two people have 2 legs, then you have to get 4 legs (win by 2) to end the game. There's also "Cross Guts" that we used to play. You deal a cross and reveal two adjacent corners. Using three cards in your hand, you can take either:* The two visible cards* The three blind cards* One of the two rows/diagonalsand make a 5 card poker hand (of the 5 or 6 cards you end up with). This is the funnest v! ersion of the game. I highly recommend playing this with 3 legs and a $50 cap or so.I've never played with wild cards.Like pdq said, this game can get ugly. I once won a $500+ pot when I was 19 or 20. It took many weeks for the guy to pay me back (I had to threaten bodily harm for him to pay me)....Show more

Antonette Shappy: This Site Might Help You.RE:Name of gambling card game.?When I was younger, I was taught a card game and was told the name of the game was "Philadelphia." The gist of the game was each player got three cards, and a kitty was dealt three cards also. After the ante, everyone got the choice to be in or get out. 2's and 3's were wild, and......Show more
Cuc Gire: This is a game that is almost identical to a game called, "Guts".Guts is played just like you! described, however, I've never played with Wild cards.I love ! the game, but it has great potential for DISASTER amongst friends. Once in college, the pot grew to over a hundred dollars. NOBODY had that sort of money to match the pot if they lost! When my friends and I play this game in our home poker games, we create a "cap" on the amount anyone has to match. It may seem lame, but it's a necessary "lameness" that you should really consider. No matter how big the pot is, the MOST anyone ever needs to match is $5. So if there is $4 in the pot, and 4 people stay in, then the winner gets the $4. The 3 losers each pay $4. Now the pot is $12. If 3 people stay in, the 2 losers do NOT have to pay $12. Each loser will only pay $5. (The "cap" amount.) This way, the pot never gets out of control. This would be a ridiculous game to actually play on-line. It is a very DANGEROUS game to play with friends if you don't include a cap. It may not seem fair to put a cap on the amount you need to pay if you stay and lose, but it is necessary! O! therwise, it's just a good way to hurt, and possibly lose, good friends....Show more
