What is the difference between aircraft maintenance technician/engineer?

Arlen Decorte: As I think after completing B1.1 AME course you can work in any airline as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician..After getting minimum 2 years experience, you can apply for license to become a licensed aircraft maintenance engineer..!!** Not 100% sure**

Jackson Esmiol: In some countries, AMT and aircraft engineer are different titles for the same job, but in the USA, an Engineer is a college graduate who works mostly at a desk to design and develop mechanical systems, while an AMT is the person who actually works on the airplane to maintain and/or repair it. Domestic Engineer = HousewifeSanitation Engineer = Garbage manEven in the USAF, technicians are now labeled as apprentice, journeyman and craftsman, depending on skill level.Why would anyone with an engineering degr! ee turn a wrench? As a matter of fact, any engineer that works for U.S. aviation companies that have union workers aren't allowed to go near a wrench. That would be taking away someone's livelihood....Show more
