Tawny Grosskreutz: Your high school most likely will NOT offer a study abroad program. Most high school students go through an organization. AFS, YFU and Rotary are the top three -- I wouldn't recommend any of the rest, really. You will need to be 15 to go, I think 16 is actually better. To learn more, visit the websites of those programs or talk to students who may be in your school right now on an exchange.http://www.yfu-usa.org/http://www.afsusa.org/usa_en/home...Show more
Cassey Hollinghurst: I wish to become something to do with writing. I love writing and was thinking I might want a career as an author, journalism, magazine editor or something along those lines. I don't know if that would affect where i go or something like that.
Fannie Collingwood: What are good places to study abroad in High School?Any place where you think you will fit in/like the climate/life style etc There is more to studying abroad than just school, you need to like the country w! here you'll be living. If you can't speak another language and are not interested in learning one then probably go to a country with the dominate langage as English (i.e. Australia, England, New Zealand...etc)What are the pros and cons of studying abroad in High School?Obviously fitting in and making friends for a start. Getting used to wearing/not wearing a school uniform. Different rules and expectations, new sporting/cultural teams, learning subjects your school may not teach (e.g. In Australia some schools teach AeroSpace studies), Some countries don't have computers or allow calculators at school, exam conditions. There is seriously a lot of pros as well as cons. Think of them more as differences rather than negatives. What are some tips for studying abroad in High School? Get involved in a sports/cultural team straight away. This will allow you to be apart of the school community and you'll make friends a lot easier. Be polite to teachers, try and be open minded, try t! o make friends, study hard to get good grades. Just like going! to any new school really. Most important thing, dont be shy! You'll only be there for a short time only and everyone will be more interested in you if you're not hiding yourself away in the back of the room.Who can I talk to about studying abroad in high school?Try your current school for starters. IF they have no advice you can go online and look at blogs of people who have gone to other countries. Ring around at exchange student organisations etc, friends or family have gone abroad than they'll have a lot of advice tooWhat can I do if my High School doesnt offer studying abroad programs? Look at exchange programs such as "AFS" "YFU" "Rotary" or "studentexchange" What to do when studying abroad that will look great on my college application?Depending on your country and the country you go to (and most importantly how well you do at school) you may be required to repeat the years that you spent in that country. I know for a fact that Australia is very strict with education! and does not usually recognise high school certificates obtained in other countries. So if you don't want to repeat the time you spent in another country you best do well at school. As for looking good, it most defintally will if you get good marks. Also, it will look more impressive if you complete highschool with good grades and in another languageWhat do I need to do to prepare for traveling abroad as a freshman, sophmore, junior, and possibly senior?1. Decide what country you want to go to2.Apply with a reliable student exchange organisation3.Try and aim for a scholarship so flights, homestays, medical insurance and school fees are covered for4.Save money for everyday spending5.Learn a language if you're going somewhere where you can't speak the language fluentlyGood luck!! :)...Show more
